Project Overview
As you know, there are very few gun ranges along Colorado's Front Range and even fewer high-quality ranges. Many of the few ranges that do exist have membership waiting lists of up to 10 years or more. We all have struggled to find places to shoot.
Between the two of us, we’ve been working on range projects for almost 10 years and have partnered to put together the finest shooting facility in Colorado!
The Second Amendment Firearms Experience (S.A.F.E.) will be a national training center built on one of the most beautiful outdoor ranch settings on the Front Range just 30 minutes north of Denver in the town of Firestone. That’s right! This facility will not be 2 hours away – it’s right in the heart of the Denver/Boulder/Greeley/Loveland/Ft. Collins corridor!
S.A.F.E. will be 100% LEAD-FREE and will open with 80 lanes under a fully-covered, arena type structure with high-tech sound mitigation to provide not only a comfortable and safe shooting environment but also to keep sound at our property within code requirements.
Not only will all live ammunition fired at S.A.F.E. use non-lead bullets made of light metals such as copper and zinc, they will be frangible (powders on contact with hard surfaces) with lead-free primers. All of this will translate into one of the most advanced, comfortable and "green" firearms shooting and training centers in the world.
Frangible ammunition create an entirely new level of advanced training opportunities for both law enforcement and armed citizens. Students will be able to learn how to move and shoot to include engaging steel reactive targets at point blank distances because the frangible bullets powder harmlessly when they hit steel.
This fact will also make shooting under our fully-covered, arena type structure safe for everyone including families with children. Further, extensive concrete and sand backstops behind each target line will extend much higher than what is called for by national, best practices in range design. Each bay of lanes will also be separated by 12-foot high side walls and the entire covered structure will be set almost 50 feet below grade into the high bluffs on the property. Thus, the sides of the facility will have not only the extended height backstops made of concrete and sand but also the earth itself behind them for enhanced safety. Finally, while frangible bullets powder harmlessly when they hit steel, they also begin to break apart immediately upon striking even thin materials losing their ballistic properties and falling harmlessly to the ground in a short distance.
S.A.F.E. plans call for using less than 10 acres (1 percent) of the almost 900-acre property leaving the rest as open space with active stewardship of its natural beauty and wildlife.
Lead-Free Ammunition Pricing & Availability
S.A.F.E. has negotiated a national, direct purchase relationship with a leading manufacturer of lead-free, frangible ammunition. As a result, S.A.F.E. will be purchasing this ammunition in handgun, rifle and shotgun calibers in large volume and passing our actual cost on to our students and members with zero markup! The price they will pay will be at or below the price being paid now for bulk orders of regular, lead-based ammunition. S.A.F.E. will also have ammunition in stock while many retail store shelves are empty!

The magnificent Patriot Ranch comprises a total of almost 900 acres and has 1.5 miles of the gorgeous St. Vrain River running through it surrounded by beautiful land and high bluffs. S.A.F.E. has met numerous times with state and federal wildlife officials, and our own Ecological experts to formulate a plan to restore the property, repair the damage from cattle overgrazing, protect the wildlife and even enhance the hunting grounds for a pair of Bald Eagles that have a nest on the property that is far removed from the fully-covered and sound-mitigated arena structure. S.A.F.E. will improve the property, eliminate hunting and indiscriminate shooting that has been occurring on the property for decades and be the true steward that this beautiful ranch and its wildlife deserve.
Fully-Covered Arena Shooting
S.A.F.E. will include one of the largest fully covered ranges in the country for year round shooting across multiple bays, thus providing our members with the best of both worlds.
Our covered range is not an indoor range but a multi-million dollar, first-class, extremely large outdoor facility & support structure (7 separate shooting bays with 80+ shooting positions) that is covered by an enormous metal building. It will feature professional berms using proprietary forms and a beautifully manicured gravel rock floor with natural lighting and ventilation for a fresh, outdoor shooting experience yet with protection from the wind, sun, rain, and snow.
At nearly 65,000 sq. ft. our covered range will feature six (6) 15 to 25 yard bays of 10 lanes each and one (1) 50-yard Superbay with 20+ shooting positions for a total of 80+ shooting lanes. Our Superbay will allow us to bring in cars and airplane fuselages to shoot from, at or through, and has seating capacity for spectators to view competitions with television broadcast capability.*
Focus
But S.A.F.E. is different than other ranges in this respect: S.A.F.E.’s focus will be on training and developing safe and effective firearms skills for adults and youth from beginning levels to intermediate and advanced. Our name says it all!
With some of the finest firearms instructors in the nation, S.A.F.E. will offer many exciting and dynamic target systems and training opportunities to the public that are generally only available to law enforcement including turning, swing-up and moving (i.e. “Running Man”) targets, low light shooting, shoot-house simulators and, available to the public in Colorado for the first time, a Law Enforcement Training Simulator with over 700 video simulation scenarios.*
Experience
As partners, both of us are certified Law Enforcement Handgun Instructors and together we hold numerous other firearms instructor certifications including NRA Master Training Counselor and Law Enforcement Rifle Instructor. Additionally, we hold numerous other law enforcement instructor certifications including Taser, O.C. Pepper Spray and PPCT Defensive Tactics, among others. Many of you who have received instruction from us already know our commitment to the delivery of quality training.
Additionally, we will have extremely experienced staff instructors plus top notch guest instructors from a variety of local and national law enforcement agencies. It is rare that the shooting public gets these types of law enforcement quality training and instruction opportunities.
S.A.F.E. will also focus on a very under-served segment of the shooting
community with women and kids-only programs plus a kids summer camp!

Limited Membership Opportunities
While it's true that S.A.F.E. will be a large shooting and training facility, our initial feedback has already indicated that the memberships will go fast and we will have to limit them, likely earlier than we’d like to.
